Captain's Blog; January 23, in the year Two Thousand and Nine. 2 damn days before we reach the shore of Key West!
Ye must want to find it. It be necessary to want to know what it unlocks, even if, like the little bloody key in the tale of Bluebeard, it unlocks a door of stacked up skulls, crisscrossed bones and murdered selves ruthlessly slaughtered for so much unknown. The key may very well unlock what it is I would rather not know, and I may stand there, covered in blood. What be the alchemical potion to transform me unknowing, me denial, lethargy, lack of self responsibility, into the initiation of mature selfhood, ready to take on where it is I am surely being directed, and as Captain, am thereby leading others. I therefore, for the sake of me crew, for the sake of a lost little girl, am willing to get me hands bloody and to see into the blood of me past.
Aye, everything be changed since we began this journey. Thanks to Lagrange, the alchemical transformations have been occuring since we left port some 73 days past. I won't let meself or me crew down. I never have: only some misperception that sought to keep me in this Nigredo stage of transformation. Vigilance. Determination. Strength. On the day after the morrow, we shall walk upon the shores of the island at the edge of the New World. We shall master the ghosts of the ancient Manor at Southernmost house, we shall discover the key, and we shall recover the abandoned daughter.
Leaning out over the rail of the HMS Black Swan, with the winds whipping me face, I be staring with courage into me future. Lagrange meets me on the bow to offer one final secret and hands me the Nubian Pirate dagger; an amber handled dagger from the heart of darkness to cut through illusion. "This be part of the parcel I received from Kalymnos, and I was instructed to hand it over to you only at such time as I believed ye to be ready. Captain, O Captain, you now have everything you need to rescue Alma, once a little girl, now the grown woman who has been waiting for us all these years to claim her and bring her home."
