January 27, in the year Two Thousand and Nine. Our 2nd day on the island of Key West.
Today has been a very busy day at the Pirate's Hideaway House. Mixing of potions, sharpening of quills, sizing of parchments, and general and intricate preparations for the transformations about to take place.
The Key still be a mystery, but LaGrange feels it may be discovered under the hidden layers of the Shadow Keeper. It will take strength, determination, and perseverance to reach that key.
The alchemical processes have uncovered many inspiring images: mermaids in the arms of lovers, outlines of women's bodies as maps to themselves, women battling deeply-held fears in the embrace of an alligator, seahorses and starfish who lose a limb and it regrows. Though we be afraid, thar be protection in the sisterhood of this crew. This part of the journey could not be accomplished alone.
We be not hoisting sails, pulling lines, swabbing decks or loading cannons, yet we be exhausted. This activity requires our full attention and emotional presence. We be not used to this creative expression, yet it awakens the soul and our authentic voices. We feel a surge of power.
We've been rehearsing the song of the sirens. Together, we shall soon be ready to sing Alma into existence. The song begins, "Time for a Cool Change..."
